Ole Miss has played the role of spoiling Alabama’s perfect season the past two years. They have also forced the tide to play perfect the rest of the way in order to get a shot at the title. This season, however, Ole Miss opened the year with a loss to a highly ranked Florida State. The offense was there, but the Rebel’s defense was proven to be a liability. Alabama, on the other hand, opened up the season with a blowout of USC.
The playoff implications of this early matchup could be huge. Alabama will be trotting out a Freshman QB in a hostile road environment. If Ole Miss can pull this one off, it would put them right back at the top of the SEC west. If the tide continue to roll, they will stay atop the west with all signs pointing to them running straight to the SEC championship game. The Tide will face the Rebels this Saturday at 3:30 pm on CBS.
