Jim Brown comes in at #5 on this list. Brown is a very well known running back out of Syracuse University. When most people think of Syracuse, they think Carmelo Anthony and basketball. Not many people realize that one of the best running backs of all time went to what is mainly known as a basketball school. Brown played there from 1954-1956 when football was played a little differently. Still, Brown managed to be dominant.
In his 3 years at Syracuse, Brown managed to be in the top of the country in every statistical category for running backs. He was a consensus all-american, and would go down as one of the best ever. Brown was drafted 6th overall in the 1957 NFL draft. He averaged over 100 yards per game during his 8 year playing career with the Browns. He went on to be inducted in to the pro football hall of fame in 1971.
